ANYBODY
This is the first song I cowrote with one of my best
friends in the entire world, Reed Shimozawa from Zuckerbaby. We came up
together in the clubs back in the day. Static In Stereo did a demo of
this song in LA along with Ah! Leah, Dream Police and a song called Inside
Out. Anybody was the only song to be used on the SIS album (though Ah! Leah
will finally surface on the Sin City Sinners' Exile On Fremont Street). We
had recorded a version of Cheap Trick's Dream Police because at that time
Drew Barrymore's Charlie's Angle was being made and the producer wanted to
submit our cover of a 70s song. The film never had a retro vibe at all so I
assume his 70s thing was misinformed. That said, both Dream Police and Ah!
Leah are some of my all time fave classics. Reed and I went on to write many
songs together including half the material on my solo album, Go Time!
I hope to write with the man again. He and I resonate on very similar
frequencies. Anybody rocks pretty shamelessly at a time when people were
still pretty ashamed of rocking.
Hey, take a swing I’ll take it on the chin
If I can dish it I can take it like a man
If you’re gonna talk that talk
You better learn to walk that walk
Before I blow you away
Does anybody know how I might find
The way back to myself?
Because I never wanted to be
Anybody else
Does anybody have an answer for the
Questions that I pose?
Does anybody know the way?
I took a stand I took it lying down
I made it to my feet before I was counted out
I found pleasure in my pain
My sanity is my insane
Now I’ll blow you away
Don’t tempt me – I’m loadedDon’t test me – I’ll fail
