INVISIBLE
Invisible was one of the first batch of songs written for
the project that would become Static In Stereo. A little gem of pop tinged
rock. My love for the likes of Cheap Trick and the Knack pokes out a bit
here. It is bit of a spiteful ditty which was par for the course after the
demise of AOE. In classic non-confrontational tradition that spite is turned
on myself by dealing with a drag by simply wishing I was invisible and not
really dealing with it at all except to write a song about it. My
brother, John, plays super cool bass in the pre chorus especially. Little
bro, Ryan, is at his noisy best on the guitar. Scotty is the most commanding
drummer I've ever played with. His abilities are more than evident here. I
have bittersweet memories of this song mostly due to it's direct attachment
to the fallout of AOE. It was an exciting time but dealing with the
heartbreak of the breakup of my baby was a prevailing theme in my writing at
the time. Of course, going through those kinds of difficult times are what
define you as a person. I think I came out the other end a better man for
it. This song is another good example, as well as the rest of the SIS album,
of why if you really wanna know me as a person the best and worst of me is
right there in black and white on the SIS album.
I’ll take the blame
But not your shame
Swallow your ignorance
Then spit it back again
Don't be afraid - don't feel unsafe
Choke on your arrogance
Then cough it up and swallow it again
Here's yet another one - empty and comfortable
Beautiful/insincere
Just make you go away
I wish I was invisible
I wish I was anywhere but here
I wish I was invisible
I wish I was anyone but me
You're so alone - your tongue made of stone
Hey, cry me a river from your stolen throne
You play pretend - forgotten friend
Choke on my enemy
Then chew you up and swallow you again
Exposed and fraudulent - naked/ingenuine
I’ll forget but I won't forgive
Just make you go away
